The Lady Benefits of Tribulus for Women
1. Increases libido
Tribulus has a long history of supporting sexual function in both men and women. A study shows that tribulus improves sexual desire in 40 out of 50 women. Another study showed that women who took tribulus had greater sexual desire, arousal, and satisfaction than those who took a placebo. Increased levels of testosterone are also observed when taking tribulus. These high levels of testosterone also increase sex drive in women. Historically, traditional Chinese medicine has long used tribulus in tonic form as an aphrodisiac for both women and men. Tribulus also stimulates androgen receptors in the brain, a process that helps the body respond positively to circulating hormones.
2. Increases energy
Women have a major role in society. The weaker sex? No way. Some women are not only mothers, wives, homemakers who work full time. They are also human beings. Every human being experiences fatigue at a certain moment – mental andphysical. Studies show that tribulus helps increase energy by increasing the amount of oxygen in the cells. And while it won’t replace a good night’s sleep, tribulus can increase stamina in women when they need it most.
3. Improves mood
Mood swings and disorders are a common problem, and many people justifiably have a resistance to prescription drugs. Tribulus is an herb that can positively affect mood, stress and anxiety. This can be helpful for women juggling multiple responsibilities or struggling with PMS.
4. Protects the urinary tract
As a diuretic, tribulus stimulates the release of urine, which helps to cleanse the kidneys, bile, liver and urethra. It also stimulates the elimination of toxins – something that has a strong effect on mood and tone. It is very interesting that most ladies, my clients, who used the product, noticed exactly this as the first effect – the disposal of excess water and the achievement of firmer and firmer muscles, with better tone.
5. Increases levels of reproductive hormones
Tribulus has been shown to increase the levels of certain reproductive hormones in women. When taken by women with irregular ovulation, on specific days of their menstrual cycle, tribulus contributes to the occurrence of normal ovulation. This is due to the natural stimulation of LH.
6. Relieves menopausal symptoms
Increased hormone levels lead to relief of common menopausal complaints. Evidence suggests that menopausal women who take tribulus suffer from fewer hot flashes. Symptoms of anxiety, depression and insomnia are reduced. Tribulus has also been found to reduce PMS symptoms in premenopausal women.
No significant side effects have been reported with the use of tribulus, but a few have been reported. There are cases of increased body temperature, increased heart rate, increased energy and restlessness. These side effects occur at doses above 500 mg. Lowered blood pressure has also been observed as a possible side effect of tribulus. Low blood pressure can cause dizziness, especially when standing up or lying down.
Light sensitivity
Bulgarian tribulus can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. A condition known as “photosensitivity”. This increases the risk of severe sunburn. Doctors advise people using this supplement to always apply sunscreen to their skin before going out in the sun.
Hormonal considerations
Bulgarian tribulus terrestris increases testosterone and other male hormones, so men with prostate problems cannot safely use this supplement. In theory, tribulus may worsen an enlarged prostate, increase the risk of prostate cancer, or worsen the condition of a prostate cancer sufferer. Tribulus’ potential effects on female hormones may be a concern for pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant. Given that tribulus increases male hormone levels, the supplement may lead to masculinization of the female fetus’s genitalia. Animal studies show that tribulus can have a harmful effect on fetal brain development.
Allergic reaction
As with any other herb, some people may have an allergic reaction to Bulgarian tribulus terrestris. Symptoms may include: difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest or throat, chest pain, irritated skin, swelling, rash. An allergic reaction to tribulus should be considered an emergency, as it can lead to allergic shock, which causes a sharp drop in blood pressure and severe breathing difficulties.
In my practice, I have hardly seen anyone who got some of the side effects of the herb, but I have to be as objective as possible and present both sides of the coin. I personally use the product at least twice a year for 40-60 days. I recently started including it in the regimes of the ladies I work with and the effect is even stronger than expected. Cvetita Herbal has prepared a really successful tribulus product especially for ladies and I recommend it during preparation and when needed to stimulate sex hormones and libido.
